​UPstream is for teens in 9th - 12th grades.

UPstream typically meets
every other Friday during the school year with
occasional special events during the summer.

  • ​Friday, November 22 (8:00 – 10:00 P.M.)
TACO! CAT! GOAT! CHEESE! PIZZA! — Repeat after me: “Taco! Cat! Goat! Cheese! Pizza!”  That’s all you need to know and say to play this card game.  But the gorilla, groundhog, and narwhal cards will keep you on your toes!  Fun fact: This game utilizes the Stroop effect, which is “a demonstration of cognitive interference where a delay in the reaction time of a task occurs due to a mismatch in stimuli.” (Thank you Wikipedia! …Yes, there will be a quiz on this.)  That might not make much sense to you, but the “Taco! Cat! Goat! Cheese! Pizza!” will make sense of it for you.  Oh, and it’s fun.  FUN-FUN-FUN!  So much so that you’ll walk away saying, ‘Thank you for introducing and explaining the Stroop effect to the world, psychologist J. Ridley Stroop!’  (...You won't be allowed to leave until you express this thanks.)

  • Friday, December 13 (8:00 – 10:30 P.M.)
LIGHTS & SUGAR DOUGH — After we sashay and saunter our way through the Eastridge lights area, we’ll head back to the ‘Christ Our Redeemer Coffee Shop’ for some warm beverages, doughnuts, and a few spirited rounds of LEFT-CENTER-RIGHT.

CHRISTMAS PARTY — We’ll stroll through the Eastridge lights and then head back to church for hot chocolate, cookies, and a couple rounds of LEFT-CENTER-RIGHT.
